ANDROMEDIA MOTION PICTURES · TORONTO
Our mission
Andromedia exists to rebuild the foundation of Canadian filmmaking through genre-forward, commercially viable, culturally resonant cinema.
OUR MISSION
Andromedia exists to rebuild the foundation of Canadian filmmaking through genre-forward, commercially viable, culturally resonant cinema. We believe that Canada's path to global recognition mirrors the trajectory of other national cinemas: begin with bold, accessible genre work, cultivate talent through repetition and craft, and grow a distinctive voice from the ground up.
OUR WORK TO DATE
In our first year, we produced three feature films—Sorority Shark Attack, Storm Warning, and Lake Patrol (also the pilot for an ongoing series)—each shot on a disciplined 15-day schedule with budgets around $400,000. These projects were not only films; they were classrooms. Every production included one or two emerging creatives we believe can grow into the next generation of Canadian filmmakers.
OUR ASSETS & CAPABILITIES
Andromedia is majority-owned by the Dever family (70%) with additional support from a Canadian private VC fund (30%). We maintain one of the most robust independent infrastructures in the country:
Titles under marketing rights
Episodes of MMA programming
Series
Feature films
Production & post infrastructure
29 cameras · 6 post-production suites · 6 location audio setups · full lighting & grip
Canadian incentives, presales & tax-credit financing
These assets allow us to operate with unusual autonomy, speed, and cost-efficiency—critical advantages in the genre space.
THE REALITY OF THE WORK
Building a national cinema is not romantic. It is lonely, difficult, and often disheartening. We have confronted egos, entitlement, dishonesty, and a widespread lack of cinematic literacy—symptoms of a culture that has not been taught to value its own film tradition. The road is steep, and reputationally, the hits come often.
But the mission remains. Andromedia continues because the work matters.
OUR LONG VIEW
Despite the challenges, Andromedia is committed to being more than a production company. We aim to be a teacher, a guide, and a catalyst for a new generation of Canadian filmmakers who understand cinema not merely as content, but as an art form with lineage, discipline, and purpose.
Andromedia will succeed. Not because it is easy, but because it is necessary.
